As of January 1, 2024, the world's top 10 richest people collectively possess a staggering wealth of nearly $1.47 trillion, surpassing their net worth from a month earlier by $30 billion. Mark Zuckerberg has ascended to the fifth position, surpassing Bill Gates. Notably, seven of these billionaires experienced an increase in their fortunes during December 2023, contributing to the overall rise. The largest gainers in the past month include Mark Zuckerberg and Bernard Arnault, each seeing a $9.4 billion surge in net worth due to the upward trajectory of their respective companies' share prices.

Elon Musk retains his position as the world's richest person with a net worth of $251.3 billion. Musk's diverse holdings, including Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), contribute to his substantial wealth. Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH, remains the second richest, valued at $200.7 billion. Jeff Bezos, former Amazon CEO and founder of Blue Origin, follows in the third position with a net worth of $168.4 billion.

Larry Ellison, the Oracle co-founder, holds the fourth position, despite experiencing a decline of $11.2 billion in December due to a 10% drop in Oracle's stock. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook), secures the fifth spot with a net worth of $125.3 billion, marking a notable rise of $9.4 billion during December.

Bill Gates maintains the sixth position with a fortune of $119.6 billion, reflecting a $2 billion growth in December. Warren Buffett, often referred to as the "Oracle of Omaha," is the seventh richest person with a net worth of $118.6 billion. Larry Page, co-founder of Google and Alphabet board member, holds the eighth position, amassing a wealth of $117.2 billion after a 15% jump in Alphabet's share price.

Sergey Brin, who co-founded Google with Larry Page, ranks ninth with a net worth of $112.4 billion. Brin, despite stepping down as Alphabet's president in 2019, remains a significant shareholder and board member. Finally, Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft CEO, secures the tenth position, with a net worth of $112.2 billion, experiencing a slight decrease amid a less than 1% drop in Microsoft shares.

These rankings, based on Forbes' estimates, provide a snapshot of the dynamic fortunes of the world's wealthiest individuals as of the beginning of 2024.
