"Pakistan's Progressive Push: Government Launches Initiative Enabling 1.5 Million Freelancers for Economic Prosperity"

In a groundbreaking move to fortify Pakistan's freelance industry, Caretaker IT and Telecom Minister Dr Umar Saif announced the establishment of 10,000 e-Rozgar centers nationwide. This initiative aims to provide vital support to the approximately 1.5 million freelancers in the country, addressing challenges such as the lack of proper workspaces.

Dr Saif, stressing the importance of convenience for freelancers, anticipates an annual revenue boost of around $10 billion by facilitating one million freelancers. The existing measures, allowing freelancers to retain 50% of export earnings

and streamlining payment processes, coupled with the new e-Rozgar centers, are poised to accelerate freelance activities. Recognizing that many freelancers come from smaller cities and towns, the Ministry of Information Technology aims to support female IT experts from remote areas, fostering a significant demographic within the freelancing community.

Dr Saif revealed that the e-Rozgar centers would be fully equipped, each accommodating up to 100 individuals, addressing challenges like the lack of proper work environments and fast internet access.

The government plans to extend interest-free loans to building owners to encourage the transformation of properties into e-Rozgar centers. This strategic initiative aims to create a collaborative network of workspaces, facilitating connectivity and empowering freelancers to pursue high-end projects, fostering professional growth.

Dr Saif emphasized the crucial role of networking and connectivity in creating a supportive environment for freelancers to explore more lucrative opportunities. This ambitious plan marks a substantial leap forward in empowering the freelance community and elevating Pakistan's overall digital economy.
