Ma Huateng, commonly referred to as Pony Ma, serves as the chairman of Tencent Holdings, a prominent Chinese internet company. Tencent's widespread social messaging platform, WeChat, boasts an impressive user base of 1.3 billion individuals. 

Beyond social media, Tencent holds a significant position in the global gaming industry as one of the largest videogame publishers, including a stake in the well-known U.S. company Epic Games. 

The company's influence extends into various sectors, with investments in electric car manufacturer Tesla and participation in the music-streaming realm through its ties with Spotify, which, in turn, holds a stake in Tencent Music. 

Prior to founding Tencent in 1998, Ma played a pivotal role in the research and development of Internet paging systems at China Motion Telecom Development.


In 2007, 2014, and 2018, Time magazine named him one of the world's most influential people,while in 2015, Forbes credited him as one of the world's most powerful people. In 2017, 

Fortune ranked him as among the top businessmen of the year. In 2018, he was named one of the "Most Powerful People In The World"  Ma was a deputy to the Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress and a delegate in the 12th National People's Congress

Rs90m penalty slapped on banks

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has imposed a paltry penalty of Rs90 million on five commercial banks for their role in Rs70 billion worth of money laundering despite finding serious violations from these financial institutions. Proceedings of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance on Tuesday were shocking for some members of the committee who saw the central bank protecting the banks instead of penalising them. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the SBP’s response regarding an investigation into substantial money laundering by solar panel importers. The Senate panel, led by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, observed that the SBP might be withholding crucial details.
